A job we completed recently. The customer had a full roof replacement 5 years ago by another roofing company. They opted for a GRP roof, unfortunately it leaked from the word go. After several call outs it was decided that a roofing repair was required and the roofers chose to overlay the roof with an EPDM membrane. This too did not cure the leaks. The customer had now decided enough was enough and asked us to replace the whole lot.
We stripped off the previous roofing membranes to reveal the 50mm Woodwool slab. We then over boarded the woodwool slab with Structural moisture resistant OSB3 boards screwed into the joists. This was a request by the customer as he felt that the current boarding was too uneven causing standing water. We then applied a 2mm torch on underlay felt followed by a 4.5mm mineral torch on Capsheet. All edging details were also finished in the same material. This roofing system carries our standard 15 year manufacturers guarantee. All waste was removed from site and disposed of in the correct manner.
We went back to the job a couple of days later to fit the new roof done. The original one was 50 years old and quite brittle. We fitted a new double skin obscure roof dome. This let in a lot more light of which the customer was really happy.
Having spoken to the customer since he said how happy he was with the job and no longer worried that the rain would come into his property. After all it had definitely been tested this week with the amount of rain we have had.
